Republican House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan is back with a new budget plan, which he claims would help America's poor "become independent." In reality, it may do little more than make them poorer, reports indicate.
The proposal, released on Tuesday, lays out plans to cut the budget by roughly $4.6 trillion over the next 10 years. Yet such deficit reduction relies on a familiar theme for the former vice presidential candidate: cutting down programs that the poor rely on.
The House Budget Committee did not return an emailed request for comment.
Check out 7 ways Paul Ryan's budget would hurt the poor:
1. Paul Ryan's Budget Would Kill Millions Of Jobs

2. Paul Ryan's Budget Would Cut Medicaid
<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/13/us/politics/ryans-plan-aims-to-balance-budget-in-10-years.html?hp&_r=1&">His budget would slash Medicaid spending</a> by $756 billion and turn the program into a block-grant program for states. It also would eliminate Obamacare's Medicaid expansion, which would have provided Medicaid coverage for an estimated <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/12/paul-ryan-health-care-budget-cuts_n_2862275.html" target="_hplink">12 million more people</a>. This would translate into <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/03/12/paul-ryans-budget-isnt-about-the-deficit/">less health care</a> for seniors, according to the Washington Post's Ezra Klein, as well as <a href="http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/budget/news/2013/03/12/56236/third-times-not-a-charm/">more expensive health insurance</a>, according to the left-leaning Center for American Progress.

5. Paul Ryan's Budget Would Repeal Obamacare
If it stays in effect, <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/12/paul-ryan-health-care-budget-cuts_n_2862275.html" target="_hplink">Obamacare</a> would reduce the number of uninsured Americans by 27 million by 2023, according the Congressional Budget Office.
